After the field was narrowed down to 13 girls by the judges, and the episode also introduced Jaslene Gonzalez , who failed to make the final cut down to The 13 girls met with Aswirl Twins, as they were sent to a runway competition using the clothes from the designers of Elmer Avenue.
The contestants had to choose their clothes off the backs of 13 male models, then "feminize" and wear the outfit down the runway.
Melrose was chosen as the winner, allowing her the chance to be "Diva for the Day" on the set of their next photo shoot.
At the fashion magazine-inspired house, the contestants were surprised that only 11 beds were available, and maneuvering took place. Monique, who did not get a bed, stole Eugena's and poured water on it, saying it was "pee" in order to ensure nobody tried to take it off her.
The next day, Tyra's dramatic diva appearance kicked off a shoot where each girl has given a model stereotype. The judges felt that Melrose gave a terrible photo from what she "had to work with," pointing out that she looked older than she was in the photo, combined with her bad attitude on set, saw her in the bottom two.
Christian, also in the bottom two, was criticized for being "boring," and showing lack of variations in her shots.
The judges felt that Christian had less potential and weaker than Melrose, therefore sending her home. This episode was about makeovers, the girls met with the two Jays at breakfast and they were thought to have a makeover.
Instead, the girls returned to the house and Tyra surprised them with their living room being turned into a makeshift salon, where they received flowery new makeovers.
While Brooke, Megg, Eugena, CariDee, Anchal and Megan loved their new looks with gratitude and Amanda and Michelle being okay with their makeovers, Monique, AJ, and Jaeda who received the most drastic makeover of the day showed disapproval.
Melrose initially hated the fact that her hair was going to be dyed blonde, however, in the end, she embraced it with gratitude.
Jay Manuel lost his cool after the makeovers were done, saying that some of the attitudes were disrespectful to the salon management.
The challenge this week involved make-up application, speed and presentation. They each raced against the clock to put together their entire look, from make-up to wardrobe, during brief elevator stops on a trip to the top of a skyscraper.
Megg and Monique could not make the elevator at various stories, and were eliminated even before the presentation.
Eugena was determined the winner by CoverGirl, Queen Latifah and her make-up artist, Roxanna Floyd.
Her prize was an exclusive photo shoot for the CoverGirl Web site, which she chose CariDee and Jaeda to share.
Back at the house, Monique took off her frustration of her loss in the challenge by using the phone for more than three and a half hours, upsetting other girls who needed the phone.
This was followed by an intense verbal confrontation with Anchal who insisted that Monique was disrespecting others and forcefully hung up her call.
The photo shoot involved the girls to shine through quirky, extravagant wigs and hair pieces. Melrose turned the tables and delivered the best shot this week, while Michelle, Amanda and Anchal also did well.
However, Jaeda and Megan both landed in the bottom two for poor photos. Even though Jaeda still disliked her hair, Megan was sent home. When they got back to the house, Melrose went to use the phone, and Monique barged in and demanded the phone.
Melrose then slammed the door on Monique, who retaliated by taking her undergarments off and rubbed them on Melrose's bedsheets. The next day, their runway skills were put to the test in their rockiest challenge yet, with Bre Scullark cycle 5 appearing as guest.
The contestants were asked to strut across cobblestones in high heels while wearing masks which impaired their vision. The winner of the challenge, A.
Later, the girls had to rock a catwalk suspended over water, but Monique's dehydration landed her in the hospital. She then went home and did not participate in the photo shoot, but made it to judging.
While Eugena was walking on the runway, she fell. At judging, Monique was criticized for not pulling through like models in previous cycles have specifically Danielle from cycle 6.
On the other hand, A. In the end, it was Eugena and Monique who landed in the bottom two, both for their inability to translate their beauty into film.
Monique was subsequently eliminated for her seeming lack of drive. Janet was deemed by the judges as having the best make-up, and she would have won; however since she didn't put on the correct outfit, she was disqualified.
Sarah won the challenge, and she got the opportunity to shoot a tutorial video for the CoverGirl website on makeup application.
This week's photoshoot had the girls portraying different plants. At panel, Tyra told Ebony that she would have been called first for having the best picture in the bunch if it wasn't for her up-tight personality in front of the judges.
Lisa, Jenah, Heather, and Sarah once again stunned the judges. Lionel Deluy went as far as telling Jenah he'll use her when she gets signed.
Bianca and Ebony surprise the judges with their improvements compare to their past shoots, while Chantal was criticized about her inability to take in both the photographer's and the art director's instructions during the shoot.
Saleisha's lack of emotion in her picture didn't sit well with the judges. When evaluating Victoria's cactus picture, Twiggy made a remark that it was a fitting representation since she felt Victoria has a "prickly disposition.
The week kicked off with a posing lesson with vogueing expert Benny Ninja, who taught the girls how to pose while in the air by jumping on a trampoline.
Ambreal was praised for her natural ability to strike amazing poses, while Heather and Lisa struggled with their awkwardness.
Later, the remaining 10 girls used what they learned from Benny for this week's challenge, in which they had to pose in the air while being carried by figure skater Lloyd Eisler.
The prize was an Akademiks photoshoot for Seventeen magazine with cycle 6 winner Danielle Evans. Lisa won the challenge, picking Ebony and Janet to join her in the photoshoot, but she caused some tension when some other girls felt that her win was not deserved.
For the week's photoshoot, the girls were to take high fashion photographs posing as gargoyles on the roof of Omni hotel building. Bianca and Ebony shocked Mr.
Jay with their astounding progress, while Jenah, Heather and Lisa all delivered once again. Sarah struggled to fit the character, Janet was worried about showing her underwear, and Ambreal had to fight her fear of heights.
At panel, most of the girls received praise from the judges. Though Heather delivered another strong photograph, she was advised that she needed to model her face forwards as well, and not just profile.
Sarah was criticized for not grasping the concept of the shoot, and Ebony was once again cautioned about her uptight in-person appearance, and was told that she would have been called first if she had smiled in panel.
The bottom two were revealed to be Janet and Ambreal. Tyra felt that both girls had striking features and great personalities, but felt that Janet was constantly coached from photoshoot to photoshoot, and Ambreal was worsening rather than improving.
Ambreal was given another chance, and Janet was sent home. At the house, Ebony shocked some of the girls by saying she no longer wanted to be there.
Later on, male model Tyson Beckford surprised the models at the house and gave them a lesson on being a spokesperson. Most pulled off an impromptu sales pitch for their teacher, but a few had a hard time concentrating on their task.
Later, the girls were split into groups and had to create a public service announcement for the charity Keep a Child Alive. Though the group consisting of Heather, Jenah and Ambreal struggled to put together their announcements, they won the challenge and received gift baskets from Carol's Daughter.
In addition, Heather won an extra prize; she got to participate in a photoshoot for Carol's Daughter, directed by singer Mary J.
She used the photoshoot as an opportunity to practice shooting face-front pictures. The week's photoshoot had the girls model with various recyclable materials.
Ebony and Ambreal struggled with their shoots, while Heather received praise for not doing a single shot in profile. Saleisha and Jenah excelled, while Sarah and Chantal also did well.
Bianca was complimented for her practice in the mirror and smiling with her eyes in most of her film. Lisa was told by Jay that she was doing well, but the judges criticized her for being too "Model At panel, due to their poor performances in the photoshoot, Ebony and Ambreal landed in the bottom two, both for the second time.
Ebony for being uninspiring in both her film and her final photo, and Ambreal for giving a sleepy photo. Tyra called Ebony to receive her photo, but Ebony stated that she no longer wished to compete.
After astonishment and permission from Tyra, Ebony left and Ambreal received "a free pass" allowing her to continue on in the competition.
Tyra taught the ladies how to model in front of a moving camera. Later, the contestants shot a music video with Enrique Iglesias.
The girls met Enrique in their van, where he told them one of them won the reward of being featured more in the video. During the filming, Heather fainted from exhaustion.
Miss J critiques everyone's walks before the challenge. Before the show starts the models are introduced to the director of NEXT models, Alexis Borges.
Alexis Borges will determine the winner of the runway show challenge. Will is nervous about the challenge due to his insecurities about his body, while Adam is overconfident.
Keith won the challenge and has chosen to a Tyra Suite with any of his contestant until the elimination later in the panel.
The next day, the models meet with Tyra and Yu Tsai for their first photo shoot, where they will be splashed with buckets of water.
It is explained that the shoot will consist of two parts: the first is filming for the season's opening titles, and the second is taking still photos that will be used for scoring.
After Tyra films her parts, the models take their turns. Will ultimately struggles with his insecurities about his body once again, while Mirjana is chastised for looking too sexy.
Raelia has flashbacks of her almost drowning in the past, and Ivy has trouble coping with the cold temperatures of the water. Keith, Romeo, Kari, and Lenox receive praise during their session.
The contestants are taken to Pershing Square to meet with Yu Tsai and photographer An Le. The concept of the photo shoot is to create photographs depicting a twofold optical illusion by laying flat on the ground.
Keith, Lenox, Ben, Raelia, Shei and Will do well during their session. Adam and Kari struggle to impress.
Chantelle is called out on her over confidence, which is verging on arrogance. Most of the models struggle to hold their weight to create a pose, most notably Romeo and Denzel, who winds up cursing and storming off set after he is yelled at by Yu Tsai for being unable to hold up a bicycle.
Back at the house, the models find a box containing instructions for a scavenger hunt to find boxes each containing a specific make over.
One of the boxes also includes a pair of 'magic shears '. The contestant who finds the shears is allowed to know exactly what their make over will be.
Denzel ultimately finds the shears, and is told that he will be getting a lace front beard weave. Chantelle becomes agitated when she realizes that one of the boxes contains instructions for shaved hair, believing that that will be her make over.
That discussion lead into an eventual makeovers at Cristophe salon, Tyra brings Cory to the salon to encourage the models to accept whatever 'Ty-over' they are given.
At judging, Tyra reminds the models that since there is no challenge score for the week, their fan vote will be the only determining factor as to who gets eliminated once it's added to the judges scores.
Lenox, Will, and Raelia and are given good reviews for their photographs. Ben receives the best feedback, and consequently earns best photo.
Adam, Shei, Kari and Chantelle receive the heaviest criticism. Chantelle and Kari find themselves in the bottom two.
Chantelle is critiqued on not putting her beauty to good use in photographs, while Kari is reprimanded for her lack of neck in photos, and her inability to embrace her make over.
In the end, Chantelle was eliminated. Tyra teaches the models about being sexy for a commercial before they asked to practice what they have learned.
Raelia, Keith, and Will shine during the practice run, while Adam struggles to find the correct movement.
Tyra evidently becomes irritated after Lenox gives up in the middle of her practice session. The next Morning, Yu Tsai wakes up the models and reveals that they will be doing a commercial in pairs for a fragrance, Spyder Byte with the women embodying black widow spiders and the men posing as their victims.
At the shoot, Will, Matthew, Keith, Mirjana, Romeo, and Raelia excel. Denzel and Kari struggle at finding chemistry with each other, due to Denzel becoming distracted by Mirjana, who is giving all her attention to Keith.
Lenox struggles to embody the sexual character, while Adam struggles with movement once again. Later that night, the contestants celebrated Romeo's birthday as most of the contestants are surprise at how personable Romeo is being with everyone.
Romeo became drunk and staggers into Tyra Suite with Adam. They playfully exchange words before Romeo suddenly becomes combative towards Adam. The two exchange threats, with Romeo goading Adam to hit him and Adam trying to get Romeo back to his room.
It eventually ends with Romeo headbutting Adam on the side of the face before he is restrained by Will and guided back to his room.
The following day, Romeo is still berating Adam, while Adam refuses to argue with him. This lead into his eventual disqualification when Miss J asked to leave him immediately just before the start of the challenge for the other models.
The challenge was a runway challenge, Mirjana struggles backstage during practice, but excels on the runway. Raelia falls before making her entrance.
Ben, Will and Mirjana are praised for their performances. Ben is ultimately declared as the challenge winner. At panel, Adam is commended for taking the high road in the confrontation between him and Romeo.
He is also congratulated on his improvement during the week, but is chastised for his walk. Shei, Kari, Denzel and Lenox all receive negative feedback.
Will and Raelia both receive a high level of praise. In a top model first, Lenox becomes the first contestant to receive a 1 from Tyra for not having taken the commercial seriously and neglecting the time she was given to practice what she had been taught.
Adam and Lenox are revealed to be the bottom two. After the final scores roll, Lenox is eliminated from the competition.
Immediately after reprimanding Lenox, Tyra reveals that due to Romeo's disqualification, Lenox will be allowed to stay. As a punishment for having had the lowest score, she is given only five frames for the following shoot.
The models arrive at a studio where Yu Tsai announces that they will be doing a slow motion hair whipping shoot. He introduces Massimo Campana, the photographer for the shoot.
Massimo reminds the models that every frame counts, especially Lenox who only has five frames as a result of having been called last at panel for the last elimination.
On set, Adam, Shei, Mirjana, Denzel, Will, Raelia, and Kari excel and impress Yu Tsai and Massimo. Lenox struggles and breaks down, but soon collects herself after having a talk with Yu.
The models notice that Denzel and Mirjana's relationship contrasts with Kari and Keith's relationship, as the latter two keep their professional on set.
Yu Tsai critiques Keith's lack of facial expressions. The day after the shoot Yu Tsai, joined by cycle 20 contestant Nina Burns, tell the models that they will be having a party in honor of a special guest.
Nina introduces Nick Cannon, who tells the models that they will be put to the test by making a panoramic ad campaign for his new line of headphones.
Due to having been the bottom three at panel the previous week, Adam, Ben and Lenox are chosen as team captains.
Lenox and her team, consisting of Matthew and Kari, ultimately win the challenge. At panel, Lenox, Mirjana, Shei, Will, Raelia and Adam receive good feedback.
The rest, with the exception of Ben, Kari, and Keith, receive mixed feedback. Lenox redeems herself and receives best photo.
Keith and Ben shockingly end up in the bottom two, both having received best photo in the previous weeks.
Keith manages to stay, eliminating Ben from the competition. Watched: Reality Tv. Share this Rating Title: America's Next Top Model — 5.
